Converting the Picky Dog or Cat into an Easy Eater

picky eaters cat and dog

A picky-eating cat or dog has to be one of the most annoying things about pet ownership. It's hard to fathom that your dog that ate that moldy bit of pizza off the street, or your cat that ate a mole, turned up their snout at a bowl of food, particularly if they're getting the good stuff. But hey, it happens to the best of us.

And while I'd like to tell you that it's a behavior thing, who really knows? Maybe there's an enzyme in the turkey that doesn't agree with him, or he doesn't like the smell of lamb? Unless your pet's developed an obvious allergy to a particular food, you'll never know why it's rejected. C'est la vie.

Of course your best bud might also be going through an "I-hate-this" phase, which I get. My dog once did it with lamb. Couldn't get enough of the savory red meat. Then one day out of the blue, he wouldn't touch it. That's not uncommon, so I stopped feeding him lamb for the next two months. Guess what happened when I re-introduced it? Right - he gobbled it up like my late Uncle Harry, (may he rest in peace, a disagreeable man who never passed up a bargain).

The upshot to all this is not to get all bent out of whack over your picky eater. Just give him something new for a change and after a while try the ole I-won't-eat-it raw meal he once loved. Understand that we allow our dogs or cats to be picky; there is no animal under the sun that ever died from starvation when they had a chance to eat some delicious healthy food. After all, at their core, every pet is an Uncle Harry.

Check out our varied product line, there's surely something for your picky pet!
